What a dilemma...

We have quite the dilemma going on in our home. All Megan wants for her birthday is a dog! Which posed a huge problem! I won't allow dogs in our home, and Boyd won't allow a dogs in our yard...the yard is his baby...he fusses over it more than he fusses over me! Anyhow, she has been begging for a dog for awhile now, and she wants one so bad for her birthday. Well, I keep telling her that she is not getting a dog for her birthday, but man it makes me feel really bad! The other day she said something so funny. We were driving in the car and she said, "Mom, I need to talk to you about something. Lately, I just feel like something is missing in my life. I don't know what it is, but I just feel weird, like something is missing." Well, I thought it would be something serious, things were running through my head, like something gospel related, another sibling we were suppose to have. I was a little bit taken back by the comment. I said, "Like what, you have to help me here, I don't have any idea what it could be." Then she said, "I don't know, something is definitely missing, something kinda like a dog or something I think!" I just started laughing. She is 6 years old, and comes up with the funniest things. I then told her, "No Megan, we can't get a dog." So what do I do, just keep breaking her heart forever...it is all she talks about! I guess we really are horrible parents!!!!

Ha ha, she knows just how to make her mom feel guilty. They learn so young! Troy always tells me that I feel guilty about everything and I think you're the same way. Just think of all the dog poop and dog hair. And realize that once the novelty of it all wears off, you'll be the one feeding and walking it! Can you tell I'm not a big dog lover?

Take to her the local shelter to help out with the dogs for a day. That might help cure her, however it also might make it worse. Good luck! We haven't had one quite that adament about it yet, but we will NEVER have a dog if I can help it!

yeah we've faced that dilema and i can currently blame it on the fact that we rent and live in town but the day i actually buy a house i don't know what the reason behind the NO will be. she could always have a dog at grandma and grandpa's! so she gets to see it when ya'll go home. best of luck

You can always do fish.. we have dogs outside but my daughter wants to bring them in.... not happening.. she may be seeking something to take care of... take her to walmart and let her walk down the fish aisle and get a betta they are durable and don't need the system stuff to stay alive.. just a bowl, a plant rocks, water and food! See what she thinks about it without even mentioning a dog...

If it were me...go with a small short haired dog... small means not near the poop and short haired so you don't have the hair mess... we have two Labradors outside... so I'm probably not much help.
